Reiki in Mayfield with Helen Germanos
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a form of energetic healing. Reiki can be used by anyone and it is suitable for all age groups and states of health. Reiki has a powerful effect, yet it is gentle and safe.
A Japanese word, Rei means universal and Ki means life force, or energy, which flows in and around every living thing. This energy generally referred to as ‘Chi’, 'Qi' or ‘Vital Force’ works its way through a series of energy channels, or meridians. It promotes healing on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level, restoring balance and bringing a sense of calm, clarity and well-being.
Reiki works by the practitioner gently laying their hands on the recipient in order to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). When we are asleep or in a deep state of relaxation or meditation it is our PNS that is activated. When activated the body enters a state of ‘rest and digest’. It is at this time when the body is able to attend to any adjustments that need to take place in order to bring it back in to a state of balance.
It can be used alongside other forms of treatment, both conventional and complementary, in supporting the body’s natural ability to restore its strength and heal itself.
I have always been interested in understanding how the body and mind work. In 2012 I fell ill with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which proved to be a life changing event. Being a qualified homeopath and psychologist I searched for answers as to what was happening to me and in the process gained a much deeper understanding of health and disease. One of the things I discovered on my journey was Reiki and how incredibly effective it was in helping me gain strength and inner peace. When I felt strong enough I immediately did the practitioner course and have been using Reiki meditations and doing treatments daily ever since.
At present I am writing a book on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome outlining a new theory on how it develops and why.
